New Le Village location for venerable Cornwall tattoo shop

CORNWALL, Ontario – It’s a new home, but the quality and expertise at Phil ink Tattooz hasn’t changed.

The venerable tattoo shop, owned by Phil Richer for eight years, has made its move to Le Village from Pitt Street to take advantage of the vibrancy its owner says is percolating on Montreal Road.

“We were looking for a bigger location that offered lots of foot traffic,” said Richer, who has been a tattoo artist for nearly 20 years. “I purchased the building and I wanted to make it the way I wanted it. We have three times the space here. Now we’re offering more artists in the shop as well.

“There’s lots of busy businesses in this area. I also feel like this area is getting better all the time. The Cotton Mills are right there and I feel it is a booming area.”

While clients can make appointments to visit Phil ink Tattooz, Richer and his staff prefer the “old-fashioned” approach.

“We like doing walk-ins here. It’s a busy street and we feel we can handle anything that people want and come in with,” he said.

Along with the new digs at 344 Montreal Road is a new open-concept design inside. Semi-private tattoo stations offer clients a degree of discretion, while also ensuring they can chat with other artists and customers.

“It’s open enough that everyone can talk amongst each other,” said Richer.
