CORNWALL, Ontario – If you’re looking to get the be-jeepers scared out of you this Halloween, there’s a great event taking place near Le Village.

The Ghost Walk for Charity will feature animatronics, local actors dressed up in costumes and wall-to-wall frights and chills at the Cotton Mills from Oct. 23 to 28.

The walk, which will raise money for three local charities, is being organized by a group of local volunteers headed by Michael Turcotte, a local foot specialist.

“I was doing a haunted garage for many years at my house…and it just grew bigger and bigger,” he said. “We wanted to do something that everyone could go to.”

The ghost walk will include both ‘scare hours’ and ‘non-scare hours’ to accommodate those in search of a more timid affair – and others looking to faint with fright.

“During the non-scare hours you’re basically walking through with a grim reaper – it’s really just special effects and animatronics,” said Turcotte. “On the scare hours will take it up a bit.”

Local actors are taking part in the event, by dressing up in costumes. The 15-minute walk will be preceded by short videos of the history of the cotton mills.

Nearly 5,000 square feet of space is being used for the ghost walk.

Tickets are $5 for children, $7 for adults and a family pass costs $20. All of the proceeds for the event will be donated to the local Big Brothers/Big Sisters chapter, Hospice Cornwall and the local bereaved families office.

More on the event can be found at the walk website, and its Facebook page.
